When Mistakes Have Been Made and You Don’t Know What to Say

Hmmm… Well…Ahem…(Can you picture me looking down and scuffling the dirt with the toe of my shoe?)  A lot going on this past week on so many fronts…

Mistakes have been made.

I’ve made them, you’ve made them, we all have.

Some have bigger consequences than others.

Ironically, part of the text for John’s sermon yesterday included these words about Peter on the Mt. of Transfiguration “He did not know what to say…”  This comes right after “Peter said…” (Mark 9)

Ah, Peter…I hear ya.  Yep.  I’ve been that person. Laura didn’t know what to say, so she spoke anyway.

Which may be why one of my memory verses is “Where words are many, sin is not absent.”  (Proverbs 10:19)

It’s also why I’m writing to say I need to pay attention, to be still, to pray and process instead of posting today.

Can you relate?

  1. How honest of you Laura! Sometimes less is more..I have a statement on the wall in my kitchen which I look at often…. “Do not speak unless you can improve upon the silence”

  2. I so agree; Silence for reflection on,affirmation of and clarity of God’s Wisdom and Truth At times Truth needs to be encouraged vocally- lovingly, humbly yet steadfast on Truth. Silence can itself be encouraging unrighteousness- the easy route chosen to eliminate our own fears of rejection, or fear of creating discord elsewhere- God’s Truth is always restorative when obedience is present. Christ’s Blood paid it all- my mistakes and the mistakes of others,
